Your work is your business.

Local-first tools. No tracking. No required accounts. Here’s what that means—and where the details matter.

Local is the starting point

PlainTools processes and stores your work locally. Captures, notes, palette history, snippets, and reading queues belong in your own browser or in files you choose to export.

Tools have different jobs, so they do not all need the same access. A QR generator uses the information you enter. A tab utility needs information about open tabs. Check the individual tool page for the relevant explanation.

No tracking. No required accounts.

PlainTools does not track your activity or require a user account. This website does not include analytics, tracking scripts, remote fonts, or embedded third-party content.

When a website is hosted, its hosting infrastructure receives the requests needed to serve it. This local prototype does not establish a hosting provider’s logging or retention policy.

Local-first does not mean never online

Page Info can re-fetch the current page from its own origin to inspect it. This makes a network request to the website you are inspecting. It is not a request to a PlainTools tracking service.

Browser pages and their resources can have their own network behaviour. We do not make a blanket claim that every tool has identical permissions or that every operation is offline.

Local data needs local care

Local storage is not automatic backup or sync. Clearing a tool’s browser data or removing an extension can affect what is stored. Keep exports where a tool supports them if you need a separate copy.

Files you export remain under your control. If you share an export, the service or person you share it with may handle that data differently.

See Permissions for the difference between temporary access to a chosen page and broader access.

Feedback stays a draft for now

The feedback form prepares a text file on your device. It does not send the form to PlainTools, save it on a server, or subscribe you to updates. No submission backend or notification service is connected.

Draft text remains in the current page while you edit it and is not saved by this site after you navigate away or reload. The file you download stays on your device.
